Is it better to work from home?
TEN REASONS TO LET EMPLOYEES WORK FROM HOME INDEFINITELY
1. They get hours of their lives back by skipping the commute, which can be committed to work, and is less stressful.
2. They can attend to household tasks that only take a second (accepting deliveries for instance) but simplify life enormously.
3. Less commuting is better for fuel consumption, helping peoples pockets, and the environment.
4. You can hire people outside a normal commuting range.
5. You can hire people who need to work from home (folks with limited mobility, social anxiety, etc.)
6. Company saves a ton of money not renting office space.
7. Lowers risk of workplace violence & illness……
8. Makes confidential conversations (e.g. with HR) easier.
9. Home is a more comfortable/productive workplace for many people.
10. Allows for more active physical activity (5-minute stretch or cardio between tasks/calls, etc)
Not every job can be done from home. Not everyone wants to work from home. Still, COVID-19 has shown us that many, many jobs can be performed just as easy away from the ‘normal’ workplace. It’s time for employers’ to step up, stop hedging their bets (advertising job openings as “remote for now”) and commit to becoming WFH supporting employers from now on. The future is here!
